PFC Anthony S. "Tony" Swietanowski, United States Army (Korea), age 89, formerly of Chicago Lawn and Marquette Park neighborhoods, late of Oak Lawn, IL. Cherished uncle of Gloria (the late Joseph) Ruggerio and Eileen Shirt; beloved brother of the late Stella, Theresa, Katherine (Kay Anne), Leo and Louis Swietanowski, Jane Gumienny, and Pauline Svetnosky; son of the late John and Anna.
Tony spent several decades at the Western Electric Manufacturing Company in Chicago. He also assisted his father and brother Lou in managing the family's popular newspaper stand at the coroner of 63rd Street and Fairfield. A faithful Catholic, Tony was the daily communicant and served as Sacristan at Saint Nicholas of Tolentine Church and Chapel for more than a decade. When not in church, he was a devoted brother who selflessly cared for his siblings, especially Kay Anne and Louie.
Visitation Tuesday, February 13th beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Kosary Funeral Home, 9837 S Kedzie Avenue, Evergreen Park. Chapel Service 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Anthony Pizzo, OSA presiding. Interment Saint Mary Cemetery, Sacred Heart Shrine, Lot 1585, NW Grave.
