John Peter Schmidt

John Peter Schmidt, age 84 of Tinley Park. Cherished husband of Annette (nee Berschinski); beloved father of John (Kelly) of Ann Arbor MI, Julie Clawson of Carmel IN, and Justin (Brandy) of Lockport IL; loving grandfather of Xavier and Aubrey Clawson, and Elena and John William Schmidt; fond brother of the late Joan McMahon and June Irvin.

John grew-up in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood and graduated from Raster Elementary and Harper High School before going onto Northwestern University in suburban Evanston, IL where he earned a degree in accounting. After college he began a long career in finance and administration with the Standard Oil Company in Chicago eventually retiring from AMACO/BP after 34 years. John enjoyed spending time with his family in Cable Lake, MI and Hudson Lake, IN. Some of his hobbies included golf, fishing, bowling, stained glass, wood working, photography, genealogy and poker with his friends. His favorite Chicago teams were the Bears and White Sox.

John's family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Arden Courts of Palos Heights, IL for the attention and diligent care they provided these last several months. 

Visitation Tuesday, November 21st from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Wednesday 9:15 a.m. from Tews-Ryan Funeral Home, 18230 S Dixie Highway to Saint Joseph Church (Saint John Neumann Parish), 17951 S Dixie Highway for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Assumption Cemetery, Glenwood, Section 12, Block 23, Lot 25, Grave 4.
