Raymond Lavko Obituary

Raymond James Lavko, Sr., age 95 of Chicago. Cherished husband of Audrey (nee Andrick); beloved father of Teri, Kim, Mike (Maureen), Mark, Gerry and Ray Jr. (Alexis); loving grandfather of Andrea, Tim, Allen, Nate, Andy, Mark Jr., Amy, Raymond K., Theo and ”adopted” grandfather of all of the Balto children; brother of the late Agnes, Adolf (“Dates”), Hedwika (“Hattie”) and Virginia and son of the late Kalman and Marie. Ray grew up in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood and was a graduate of Farragut High School. After graduating, he began working at Sears Roebuck & Co. before serving in the U. S. Army from 1950-1952. After his military service, Ray returned to Sears where he enjoyed a long career before eventually retiring after 43 years. Some of his hobbies included golf, crossword puzzles and smoking fine cigars. He was a fan of the Chicago White Sox (MLB) and the Chicago Cardinals (NFL). Ray’s family would like to extend their gratitude to Magdalena Rodriguez and Maryann Brown for the assistance and compassionate care they provided for him these last several months. Visitation Sunday 2-7 p.m. Funeral Monday, 11:45 a.m. from Kosary Funeral Home, 9837 S Kedzie Avenue to St. Bernadette Church, 9343 S. Francisco. Mass of Christian Burial 12:30 p.m. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Sec 21, Blk 12, Lt 2 Gr 10.
